ABE 001 Basic Education for Adults (Beda) Orientation 1 Credit
Orients new students for entry into Basic Education for Adults (BEdA) program.
Prerequisite: None.
ABE 002 High School+ and GED Orientation 1 Credit
Orients new students for entry into High School+ and/or GED programs.
Prerequisite: None.
ABE 004 Pathways Overview 1 Credit
Introduces college and career pathways for students in the HS21+, GED, or Basic Education for Adults (BEdA) program.
Prerequisite: 'S' in ABE 002 and BEdA placement test score into high intermediate or adult secondary level reading when required.
ABE 006 Pathways Exploration 1 Credit
Investigates specific college and career pathways for students in the HS21+, GED, or Basic Education for Adults (BEdA) program.
Prerequisite: 'S' or concurrent enrollment in ABE 004.
ABE 021 ABE Digital Literacy I 1-2.5 Credits
Presents basic digital literacy skills within the context of college and career readiness.
Prerequisite: Adult Basic Education placement in any level.
ABE 052 ABE Language Arts II (Beginning Basic Language Arts) 1-7.5 Credits
Provides an integrated approach to the development of beginning basic education level reading, writing, English language usage, and speaking and listening skills. Emphasis is placed on enhancing critical thinking skills in the context of college and career readiness. Placement is based on appropriate beginning basic education level reading CASAS score and appropriate level writing skills as determined by previous instructor or through program orientation screening.
Prerequisite: Student must complete a Basic Skills program orientation.
ABE 053 ABE Language Arts III (Low Intermediate Language Arts) 1-7.5 Credits
Provides an integrated approach to the development of low-intermediate reading, writing, English language usage, and speaking and listening skills. Emphasis is placed on enhancing critical thinking skills in the context of college and career readiness. Placement is based on appropriate low-intermediate level reading CASAS score and appropriate level writing skills as determined by previous instructor or through program orientation screening.
Prerequisite: Student must complete a Basic Skills program orientation.
ABE 054 ABE Language Arts IV (High Intermediate Language Arts) 1-10 Credits
Provides an integrated approach to development of high-intermediate reading, writing, English usage, speaking and listening skills with an emphasis on increasing critical thinking. Designed for students whose goals include earning degrees or certificates in academic and/or technical programs. Placement is based on appropriate high-intermediate level reading CASAS score and appropriate level writing skills as determined by previous instructor or through program orientation screening.
Prerequisite: Student must complete a Basic Skills program orientation.
ABE 055 ABE Language Arts V (Adult Secondary Level Language Arts) 1-7.5 Credits
Provides an integrated approach to development of adult secondary level reading, writing, English usage, and speaking and listening skills with an emphasis on increasing critical thinking. Designed for students whose goals include earning degrees or certificates in academic and/or technical programs. Placement is based on appropriate adult secondary level reading CASAS score and appropriate level writing skills as determined by previous instructor or through program orientation screening.
Prerequisite: Student must complete a Basic Skills program orientation.
ABE 062 Applied Math I 1-7.5 Credits
Develops and improves beginning skills in mathematics through direct instruction and contextualized application.
Prerequisite: Appropriate placement or a 'U, P, V, W' in ABE 062.
ABE 063 Applied Math II 1-7.5 Credits
Develops and improves low-intermediate skills in mathematics through direct instruction and contextualized application.
Prerequisite: Appropriate placement or an 'S' in ABE 062 or a 'U, P, V, W' in ABE 063.
ABE 064 Contextualized Math I 1-7.5 Credits
Develops and improves intermediate skills in mathematics through direct instruction and contextualized application in preparation for high school completion, MATH 092, MATH 101, or employment.
Prerequisite: Appropriate placement or an 'S' in ABE 063 or a 'U, P, V, W' in ABE 064.
ABE 065 Contextualized Math II 1-5 Credits
Introduces operations with rational numbers, applications and problem solving skills, expressions, solving linear equations, and graphing linear relationships through direct instruction and contextualized application. Prepares students for high school completion, employment, or MATH& 107/MATH& 146 with concurrent MATH 096 enrollment.
Prerequisite: Appropriate placement or an 'S' in ABE 064 or a 'U, P, V, W' in ABE 065.
ABE 070 HS+ ESL Support 1-5 Credits
Provides English language support for non-native English speakers to earn high school credits that meet the Washington state high school graduation requirements as applicable for community college students whose goals include earning a high school diploma. This competency-based class allows students to work at their own pace through both direct and self-guided instruction to develop a portfolio of demonstrated proficiency for high school credits. ABE 002 may be waived by BEdA transition specialist.
Prerequisite: English as a Second Language (ESL) placement test score into Level 4 or 'S' in ESL 063, and 'S' or 'P' in ABE 002.
ABE 072 HS+ Portfolio Introduction 1-5 Credits
Provides high school credits that meet the Washington state high school graduation requirements as applicable for community college students whose goals include earning a high school diploma. This competency-based class allows students to work at their own pace through both direct and self-guided instruction to develop a portfolio of demonstrated proficiency for high school credits. This course is designed for students aged 19 and older. Prerequisites: S or concurrent enrollment in ABE 004 or ABE 006

ABE 073 HS+ Portfolio I 1-10 Credits
Provides high school credits that meet the Washington state high school graduation requirements as applicable for community college students whose goals include earning a high school diploma. This competency-based class allows students to work at their own pace through both direct and self-guided instruction to develop a portfolio of demonstrated proficiency for high school credits. This course is designed for students aged 19 and older.
Prerequisite: S or concurrent enrollment in ABE 004 or ABE 006.
ABE 074 HS+ Portfolio II 1-10 Credits
Provides high school credits that meet the Washington state high school graduation requirements as applicable for community college students whose goals include earning a high school diploma. This competency-based class allows students to work at their own pace through both direct and self-guided instruction to develop a portfolio of demonstrated proficiency for high school credits. This course is designed for students aged 19 and older who have completed 10 credits toward HS+ Diploma completion.
Prerequisite: S or concurrent enrollment in ABE 004 or ABE 006.
ABE 075 HS+ Portfolio III 1-10 Credits
Provides high school credits that meet the Washington state high school graduation requirements as applicable for community college students whose goals include earning a high school diploma. This competency-based class allows students to work at their own pace through both direct and self-guided instruction to develop a portfolio of demonstrated proficiency for high school credits. This course is designed for students aged 19 and older who have completed 16 credits toward HS+ Diploma completion.
Prerequisite: S or concurrent enrollment in ABE 004 or ABE 006.
ABE 076 HSE Preparation I 1-10 Credits
Prepares adult students in the skills and knowledge needed to earn a high school equivalency (HSE) certificate through testing.¿This course is designed for students aged 19 and older.
Prerequisite: S or concurrent enrollment in ABE 004 or ABE 006, BEdA placement test score into low intermediate or higher math (if required)¿.
ABE 077 HSE Preparation II 1-10 Credits
Prepares adult students in the skills and knowledge needed to earn a high school equivalency (HSE) certificate through testing.¿This course is designed for students aged 19 and older who have completed one or more HSE tests.
Prerequisite: S or concurrent enrollment in ABE 004 or ABE 006; BEdA placement test score into low intermediate or higher math (if required)¿.
ABE 086 HSE Preparation I 1-5 Credits
Prepares adult students in the skills and knowledge needed to earn a high school equivalency (HSE) certificate through testing.¿ This course is designed for students aged 16 to 18 who require a participation release from the school district.
Prerequisite: S or concurrent enrollment in ABE 004 or ABE 006, BEdA placement test score into low intermediate or higher math (if required).
ABE 087 HSE Preparation II 1-5 Credits
Prepares adult students in the skills and knowledge needed to earn a high school equivalency (HSE) certificate through testing.¿This course is designed for students aged 16 to 18 who require a participation release from the school district.
