BIOL 180 Introduction to Marine Biology 5 Credits
Introduces students to the marine environment including principles of marine biology. Explores the interrelatedness of the physical, chemical, and biological components of the sea and the organisms that live in it. Also discusses the human impact on the ocean. Field trip(s) required.

BIOL 214 Undergraduate Research I 2 Credits
Prepares students to successfully complete their own scientific research project by introducing the use of the scientific method, ethics, research methods, proposal writing, and presentation techniques. This course also introduces students to research opportunities in the South Sound region.
Prerequisite: Prerequisite: Completion of or concurrent enrollment in CHEM& 161 or PHYS& 114 or PHYS& 221 or BIOL& 211 or instructor's permission.
BIOL 215 Undergraduate Research II 1 Credit
Prepares students to successfully complete their own scientific research project by introducing the use of the scientific method, ethics, research methods, proposal writing, and presentation techniques. This course also introduces students to research opportunities in South Sound region.
Prerequisite: Prerequisite: BIOL 214 or CHEM 214 or PHYS 214 or instructor's permission.
BIOL 216 Undergraduate Research III 2 Credits
Provides a framework for students to carry out their own scientific research project in collaboration with peers and mentors.
Prerequisite: Prerequisite: BIOL 214 or CHEM 214 or PHYS 214 or instructor's permission.

Introduces foundational biological concepts, including ecology, evolution, heredity and organismal and cellular structure and physiology.

Introduces foundational biological concepts including cell structure and function, metabolism, genetics, biotechnology, biological diversity, evolution, and ecology. Preparatory for further studies including BIOL& 211 and BIOL& 241.

Continues study of structure and function of the human body from BIOL& 241. Topics include endocrine, reproductive, cardiovascular, respiratory, lymphatic, urinary (including fluid and electrolytes), and digestive systems.
